Jerry Sandusky Trial: May The Healing BeginPosted: June 5, 2012
Whatever you think of the Jerry Sandusky trial or whether he is guilty or innocent, his case will trigger many victims of child molest and abuse.
Some victims may now have the courage to “tell” their “secret”. Some, may even seek help to heal the pain and the shame. And, some may continue to struggle with their silence.
Healing happens, I find, when one is ready.
Yet, when those 8 young men take the stand and tell their “secret”, they will not only liberate themselves, they may liberate many, who have felt alone, wondered why their marriage fell apart, wondered why they have difficulty with intimacy, drugs, alcohol, sex, or love and wonder if they have the courage to say “it” happened to me.
You see, trials are not just about the individuals involved. They can also be a symptom of the larger problem. And, sometimes, a place where healing begins.
Simply my opinion, what say you?

(Update 6/22/2012: Day 2 of jury deliberation (sequestered). Jury requested to re-hear McQueary and Dr. Dranov testimony (shower rape allegation). Just after jurors began deliberating yesterday, Matt Sandusky, now 33, disclosed that he had been molested by Sandusky, his adopted father.)
